Visitors will experience a variety of events and light entertainment that will brilliantly embroider the night sky following the concept of a “Renaissance of Light”. Events will include the International Light Design Competition for light designers from all over the world and a meeting with international masters who create works using light.
City of Light, Challenge for the Future
The Gwangju photonics industry began as a representative industry to lead the future of the city following the Korean financial crisis. With business incubation starting in 2000, Gwangju became a hub of the photonics industry, representing Asia by the establishment of a photonics industry cluster representing Korea. The photonics industry is now judged to be the most successful regional promotion project in Korea.

Since the commencement of incubation for the photonics industry in 2000, the Gwangju photonics industry has achieved annual sales of 944.4 billion Won with 5,180 employees in 302 enterprises as of 2007.
